Abstract:
Characteristics of the gastropods and bivalves resources in the coastal waters of Vietmam were analysed using two bottom trawl survey data carried out in the northeast monsoon 2016 and southwest monsoon 2017 seasons. The survey was conducted applying the fixed sampling stations. Results from the survey showed that, total of 101 species belongs to 67 genus in 41 families identified, including 60 gastropod species and 41 bivalve species. Central water was more diversified compared to other parts of the coastal waters. The results also indicated that, catch per unit efford of gastropods and bivalves in the coastal waters was relatively low. In northeast monsoon season, distribution of both gastropods and bivalves were concentrated in the coastal waters of Nam Dinh - Ha Tinh, Da Nang - Binh Dinh, Binh Thuan - Ninh Thuan, the eastern of Ca Mau province, the western of Ca Mau province to Kien Luong district. In the Southwest monsoon season, distribution of both gastropods and bivalves were concentrated in the coastal waters of Thai Binh - Nam Dinh, Thanh Hoa - Ha Tinh, Quang Nam province, Binh Dinh - Phu Yen, Binh Thuan province, the western of Ca Mau province and the coastal water of Kien Luong district. Stock biomass of both gastropods and bivalves was estimated to be about 1.600 tones in the northeast monsoon and 645 tones in the Southwest monsoon season. Biomass of the gastropods were rather higher than the bivalves.
