OBJECTIVES: - Conduct an additional survey of the coral status; then develop, consolidate, evaluate, and refine a coral restoration/ transplantation model in Bach Long Vi marine protected area, Hai Phong City; analyse, propose, and finalise measures for conservation and sustainable development of ecosystems, including coral reefs in Bach Long Vi, Hai Phong City. - Review literature and conduct field surveys of the current status of ecosystems, including coral reef and seagrass in Bac Hai Van - Son Cha‘s surrounding areas in Thua Thien Hue province (e.g., Lang Co Bay), and selected target communes in Binh Dinh province (e.g., Nhon Ly, Nhon Hai, Nhon Chau, Ghenh Rang... in Quy Nhon Bay) to serve as a scientific basis for coral/seagrass/seaweed transplantation, restoration and management. - Design coral transplantation and management program, with co-management, community participation, particularly women and women-led organizations, and the abovementioned SOP. CONTENTS: - Task 1. Prepare Inception Report: The inception report should include details on the proposed study plan and methodology including the approach to coral/seaweed/seagrass restoration; the tasks of experts and the expected deliverables; the work plan and proposed outline of the reports, coral transplantation and management program and SOP. This inception Report will have to be approved by UNDP. - Task 2. Consolidate and update a comprehensive database for assessment of the ecological status, especially of coral reef and seagrass/seaweed ecosystems, natural and environmental conditions, socio-economic development, measures for ecosystem restoration and sustainable management in selected MPAs and related areas. - Task 3. Analyze, propose, and finalise measures for ecosystem restoration, conservation, and sustainable development management in Marine Protected Areas and related areas. - Task 4. Propose a framework and key contents of the draft Decision/Circular for coral transplantation, restoration, and management and sustainable development.
