1. Overview, collection and update studies on phytoplankton and environmental characteristics (meteorology, oceanography, nutrients) that have been carried out and published untill now. 2. Determine the standard cell size of individual species based on the collected list of phytoplankton in Vietnamese waters: (Gulf of Tonkin, Central, Southeast and Southwest and offshore waters). 3. Designing an atlas of Vietnamese marine phytoplankton (images, cell volume, standard cell size and other information). 4. Designing a map of mass distribution for phytoplankton (restored based on historical data by cell density after obtaining data of cell size). 5. Applying phytoplankton data of cell size standards to the ecological model which is suitable to Vietnamese waters (case study presented hererin is the Gulf of Tonkin).
