Abstract:

The results from the numerical model show that the areas with high concentration of fish eggs (spawning grounds) in coastal waters of the Southeast sea are strongly affected by hydrodynamic regime (tides, winds, waves and water flow of estuaries). Under the influence of hydrodynamic regime, the dispersal trend of the areas with high concentration of fish eggs was shown clearly in two distinct monsoons: i) in the Northeast monsoon (in February and November 2007), the spawning grounds tended to move to the coastal from Vung Tau to Ca Mau; ii) in the Southwest monsoon (in May and August 2007), the spawning grounds tended to disperse from shore to offshore. The location of spawning grounds that dispersed after 168 hours can be far from 30 - 90 nautical miles. The results of the simulation of dispersal of spawning grounds have a crucial role to play in scientific basis to serve the protection and development of aquatic seed sources.
